Singer-songwriter John Craigie joins The Oregon Symphony for an extraordinary concert of folk, pop, and classical music on Wednesday, December 2, 2026 at Portland's historic Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. With the full orchestra behind him, the charismatic folk singer will be lifted to new heights as he performs fan favorites such as "I Am California," "Highway Blood," and "Dissect the Bird," plus songs from his most recent release, Mermaid Salt, including "Part Wolf" and "Climb Up."
Modern folk performer John Craigie is known for performing songs such as "I Am California", "Highway Blood", and "Dissect the Bird". John has recently begun to explore the art of song writing and fans can expect to hear some of his new work as he performs songs off his most recent album "Mermaid Salt" including "Part Wolf" and "Climb Up". Many of his performances are complete with lengthy stories that are shared between songs. Fans of Craigie have compared him to other song writers such as Jack Johnson and Gregory Alan Isakov, and he can frequently be found touring all over the country. While many singer-songwriters can share stories with audiences on stage, few can share as many stories as Craigie and he can talk for as long as he sings. John Craigie is a touring machine and has gained a strong fan base due in part to his constant touring and connection with his audience. He has shared the stage with famous musicians including Jack Johnson and Gregory Alan Isakov.
This incredible concert will take place at the historic Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall located at 1037 SW Broadway in downtown Portland, Oregon. The venue features a world-class acoustical space that can hold a crowd of 2,776 in the orchestra, balcony and gallery seats. Immediately outside the venue door are many restaurants, bars, etc. that can provide dining or entertainment before the concert. The building's box office is open Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm. Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall - the site of this event is located at 1037 SW Broadway in the heart of downtown Portland, OR. The historic building houses two performance spaces: the main hall and the smaller Reed College Collaborative Performance hall. Both spaces have excellent acoustics and feature a variety of seating arrangements to accommodate nearly every size of audience. At full capacity the hall can seat up to 2,776 people in the orchestra, balcony and gallery areas. In addition to the performances, concessions are available throughout the hall selling everything from candy and popcorn to soda and more substantial fare.
